Online Payment FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

What credit cards are accepted? We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover credit cards.

What about security? All of the personal information you enter, including your credit card number, is handled by a secure server hosted by Google Checkout. None of your information is stored on the Adat Chaverim website.

The checkout form asks for a CSC...what is that? The CSC is the Card Security Code, a 3- or 4-digit number printed in the signature field on the back of your credit card. On some cards, the credit card number, or part of it, appears before the CSC. Because the number appears only on the card itself (not on your receipts or statements), requiring the CSC means that you must be in physical possession of the credit card you're using, which helps to protect you and us against fraud.

Is there an extra charge for using my credit card? Not at this time. Adat Chaverim absorbs the fees for credit card usage.

Can I distribute one donation among multiple honorees or funds? Not online at this time. You can always do this by sending a check with a written description of how you would like your gift applied to the congregation, Attention: Treasurer.

Can I make multiple donations in one transaction? Not currently. However, Google Checkout will remember your name, address, e-mail and phone (if you check the box to have it do so), so that you don't need to re-enter this information for each subsequent transaction.

Will I receive a receipt for my payment? At the end of your transaction, a receipt with a reference number will be displayed in your web browser. You may wish to print this for your records. You will also receive a receipt by e-mail. No printed receipts will be mailed for individual online payments and donations, except for donations exceeding $200; however, all online payments will be reflected on members' tax letters sent early each year.

Is my contribution still tax-deductible? Yes, as long as it would be tax-deductible if you made the same payment by check.

My transaction was declined...why? The most common reasons that a transaction would be declined are that the name, address, and/or CSC that you entered don't match the information on your credit card account. For protection against fraud, we require that these items match. Check the information and try again. Other reasons might be that your card is expired or does not have sufficient credit available.

Can I make an anonymous donation? Not directly, because we must have your credit card information--including your name and address--to process your transaction. However, if you prefer not to be named as a donor in the Adat Chaverim newsletter, specify that in the additional info section of the payment form.

I made a mistake. How do I get my payment or donation credited back? E-mail the office with the details of your transaction, including the date and amount.
